What does "a little better" mean?

There is an old joke in Finland: Finland-Swedes have slightly better salaries, slightly better homes and slightly better clothes. Slightly better, simply.

Is it true? Maybe, maybe not. But we can laugh about it – and that is exactly the point. "Slightly better" is our wink at the myth of the Finland-Swedish upper class, a way to be proud of one's roots without taking oneself too seriously.

For us, slightly better means:

  • Slightly better quality – products that last and that you want to give away.

  • Slightly better humor – self-irony, never malice. We joke about ourselves, not about others.

  • Slightly better community – for everyone who speaks, has spoken or loves someone who speaks Finland-Swedish.

Welcome. You are already slightly better.

Vähän parempaa.
